Anne Appleby
Anne Appleby’s ties to Montana’s wilderness are clear in her work. After moving to Montana from Pennsylvania at 17, Appleby received her BFA and apprenticed with an Ojibwe elder for over a decade, where she learned to carefully observe nature over long stretches of time. This training is obvious her work, where she patiently contemplates elements of the natural world and transmutes them into nuanced blocks of color.
